We’ve lived so long under the spell of hierarchy—from god-kings to feudal lords to party bosses—that only recently have we awakened to see not only that “regular” citizens have the capacity for self-governance, but that without their engagement our huge global crises cannot be addressed. The changes needed for human society simply to survive, let alone thrive, are so profound that the only way we will move toward them is if we ourselves, regular citizens, feel meaningful ownership of solutions through direct engagement. Our problems are too big, interrelated, and pervasive to yield to directives from on high.

US Military Spending and Our Bullet Trains to Nowhere

Click here to access article by Tom Engelhardt from TomDispatch via Common Dreams. (I'm posting the article from this website because of its superior presentation.)

I think that this article reveals a mostly unrecognized consequence of the imperial ambitions of the US Empire directors. In their insane agenda to rule over all the earth, they are hollowing out their base in the home country. They are cutting every domestic expense that includes not only welfare, Social Security, and education, but roads, bridges, rail--the entire infrastructure of the US to build their ever more expensive and deadly weapons which they are using to destroy one country after another and threaten others.
